EF Stories: Alexandre from France at EF San Francisco
1. What is your educational background, Alexandre?
Before my EF program, I had obtained a BTS. During my studies, I quickly realized that my English proficiency would be a significant obstacle, as I couldn't engage in a conversation in English or express myself in writing without errors. To pursue further studies in my field (international commerce), I needed to strengthen my English skills by going back to the basics.
My level before my departure: B1.1 (EF test).
2. Why did you choose to join an EF campus?
After conducting various internet searches, I contacted EF, which appeared to be the most reliable organisation. My advisor at the time quickly got in touch with me and met me at the EF Paris offices to guide me in my choice and explore different possible destinations. After some consideration, I ultimately opted for a semester of studies with the first part of my stay in San Francisco and the final period at the EF Miami campus. I chose these destinations primarily for the culture of San Francisco and the climate of Florida.
From a personal and professional standpoint, my current level of English is no longer a hindrance in my life; quite the opposite. I regularly travel to meet my former EF friends, and of course, we all communicate in English (Colombia, Italy, Asia, etc.).
My level upon my return: C1.1.
3. Your educational/professional journey after your EF program?
EF allowed me to develop my language skills and return with an English proficiency level that allows me to easily engage in conversations in English in a professional setting or simply on a personal level. Thanks to this level of English and my overseas experience, I was able to enroll in a bachelor's program in management, business administration, and entrepreneurship immediately after returning from my program.
My English proficiency helped distinguish my profile from other candidates, enabling me to be selected for this school (English having a coefficient of 20 for admissions exams at this institution).
4. Your advice for future participants?
You should go for it; it's an incredible experience that I recommend 200%.
