EF Academy grads share survival tips with Torbay students
My name is Vita and I am in my first year of the IB program at EF Academy Torbay. I am from Norway and speak Norwegian, French and English, and right now I’m learning Spanish. I like to sing and act, and I am known for regularly wearing cat ears on normal days. Oh, and today I’m a blog writer.
Last Friday, EF Academy Torbay hosted an alumni event where current students got to meet former students and ask them questions about university life, their time at EF Academy and their secret survival tips.
Some alumni had traveled far, one all the way from Edinburgh – that’s a 10-hour journey! However, we were also joined by a student from Bristol University who decided at the last minute to hop on the train down to Torbay. Conversation ranged from midnight library studying to the curse of being a procrastinator to the perks of “Fresher’s Week.” In other words, there was plenty of information for students to take in. Coming from actual university students, we got a genuine and fresh perspective from people who have gone through the same things as us, in the same place, around the same people. Afterwards, we ate pancakes (yum!), took pictures and asked any questions that had not yet been answered.
We had a fun and informative afternoon, and I personally found it to be a successful event, especially because I was reunited with friends I hadn’t seen in a long time.
