A proud moment for EF Academy New York
The first day of the month of May is always filled with smiling faces and exciting anticipation from seniors all across the United States. That’s because May 1 is National College Signing Day – a day that signifies when most high school seniors have decided what college or university they are going to attend following graduation.
College Signing Day was extra special this year at EF Academy New York, as we hosted our first annual College Signing Day celebration. We extended an invite to all 119 graduating seniors and the teachers & staff that helped get them to the finish line! Everyone was encouraged to represent their university with a fun branded hat, shirt, or other apparel item.
The event consisted of a earnest speech from the Grad 12 dean, Ms. Chapman, as well as delicious hors d’oeuvres (including egg rolls, pigs-in-a-blanket, and bruschetta toast), a slide show that not only showed students throughout their time at EF Academy, but also lots of baby & childhood pictures, and mobile ice cream shop – what was once a local ambulance became Ice Cream Emergency, a mobile catering bus that replicated an ice cream shop from the 60s!
This is also where seniors could pick up their yearbooks. Most of the event was spent flipping through pages, reminiscing on fond memories, and signing each other’s books with heartfelt messages, always ending with a resonating “it’s not a goodbye, but a see you later!”
Some of the universities our students are matriculating to this year include:
- Cornell University
- George Washington University
- Boston University
- University of Massachusetts-Amherst
- Universita Bocconi
- New York University
- University of Edinburgh
- Berkeley College New York
- Pace University
Please join us in congratulating all of our seniors on their accomplishments! We are so proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see what they do in their next chapter.
