Let’s meet the teachers – Samantha

Hi there – I’m Samantha from Johannesburg Center. I’m originally from a city called Durban in South Africa. I moved to Johannesburg in 2012 and while working in project management, a colleague of mine was teaching part-time and introduced me to EF. 

I started out working as a part-time teacher in 2014, but after a month or so I opted to work for EF full-time and the rest is history… I swiftly grew my pool of regular/returning students from different markets and really enjoyed being a part of their study journeys. It was great to be able to help my students achieve some milestones such as passing IELTS testing and relocating to a different country, landing a new job, and communicating confidently while traveling. 

I presently work in operations, but my teaching experience is certainly still the driving force behind the work I do today. The best tip I can offer is to celebrate the wins in each lesson (small or big) and build your pool of returning students because going on a journey with students makes the experience more meaningful and enjoyable. 

In my free time, I love being outdoors, going on spontaneous road trips, and eating good food. I don’t really have a sweet tooth, but I’d say burgers are the key to happiness.
