EF Stories: Gabriela from Mexico at EF Toronto
I'm about to complete 2 months of experiencing EF in Toronto, and honestly, it's been a fantastic time.
I arrived with a low level of English and was quite apprehensive because I didn't know how I would communicate or understand the classes. However, the people here are very friendly. The teachers are dedicated to helping you learn and make the classes dynamic and fun. Today, thanks to them and daily practice both inside and outside of school, I can hold conversations with others.
I've made many friends from other countries, and that's been incredibly helpful because I'm practicing my English with them outside of school. Without a doubt, this is a really cool and important part of traveling with EF – you not only learn in the classrooms but also outside of them."
There are several places you can visit after classes at EF Toronto, as it's located in Downtown and very close to everything. You'll find restaurants with delicious food that won't break the bank, and if you're of legal drinking age, there's also a wide variety of bars to hang out at. Personally, I love visiting the parks because they offer beautiful views and make for perfect photo opportunities. You can also head to the beaches if you want to relax for a while, or if you're into shopping, Toronto is the perfect place; there are many shops near the school and numerous malls to explore.
In Toronto, the transportation system is well-coordinated, so it's very hard to get lost.
Another thing I really like about EF Toronto is that they have activities almost every day, such as visiting museums, playing games, attending parties, exploring the city, and taking trips to other cities. I've already visited Chicago with EF, and I loved it! It's definitely worth it, and I'm planning to go to New York for New Year's; these are experiences you can't miss!
Lastly, I want to highlight my experience with my Host Family. Honestly, I'm incredibly comfortable in my home. My Host Mother is single, and I have three roommates from different nationalities, which is fantastic because I get to practice my English from the moment I wake up until I go to bed. The meals my Host Mother prepares are delicious, the house is always clean, and she supports us in many ways. She chats with us, recommends places to visit, and even some Sundays, we all go out together to places near the city.
I love being in Toronto! The thought that I only have 3 more months left saddens me; I don't want to leave. But what's important is to have the attitude to enjoy every moment I have left here. Coming to EF Toronto is truly worth it.
