As the world leader in international education, we are pioneering new ways to improve how people learn now and in the future.
We’re not dogmatic about technology. It’s a vital component of what we do, but we use technology to support our goals for learning, rather than pursue it for its own sake. So we’re always looking ahead—to see how technology can help us transform education.
Collaborating with scholars at the University of Cambridge and the University of Tokyo, we seek to use data about language learning, teaching, and testing to better understand the science of language acquisition.
Design for us extends beyond graphics. To really create a world-changing service, we need to be the best in visual, interaction, and experience design - that magical intersection that fosters creativity, collaboration, and learning.
Technology
A diverse collective of innovators from academia, design, hardware, product, research, content, and engineering are reimagining education as we know it.
Together, they work at the forefront of technology to solve some of the most challenging problems in education today. From playful smart speakers that immerse students in English to innovative machine-learning algorithms that power AI language coaches. EF EdTech is on a mission to personalize learning and ignite a passion for language and culture.
The areas we cover are:
Our teams are shaping the future of learning for kids, adults and companies in schools and online.
The EF English Proficiency Index (EF EPI) is the world’s largest ranking of countries and regions by adult English skills.
EF SET is the world’s first free online standardized English test to help the world’s two billion English language learners.
Education
Our Research Network has included collaborations with universities and institutions around the world. Currently, we are working with researchers from the University of Cambridge to fundamentally improve how students learn.
The network addresses a broad range of disciplines, including linguistics, pedagogy, educational technology, language assessment, and cultural immersion. Together, we invest in research to improve the future of language learning, teaching, and cross-cultural understanding.
Design
With a logo from Paul Rand, and office and school spaces meticulously crafted to create great spaces to work and study, it should be clear that EF cares deeply about design.
But design for us extends beyond graphics and into experiences. To really create a world-changing service, we need to be the best in visual interaction and experience design - that magical intersection that fosters creativity, collaboration, and learning.
